Gender and Family Life

Have you ever had a miscommunication or misunderstanding with someone of the opposite gender and realized that men and women think differently? Many of you have probably been part of or witnessed a dispute between a man and a woman over directions or the way a certain task should be accomplished? Maybe this has lead you to question, are men and women different beyond the obvious biological differences? The world and media today would tell you otherwise. The world teaches that there are no differences between men and women. And that the way someone feels is truly the definition of gender. The world today believes that women are capable of the same things as men. The world also teaches that any difference recognized by anyone is discrimination. The world's opinion on the duties and functionality of men and women has changed dramatically over the past decades.

My goal today is not to try to disprove the world but to help people who may believe that men and women are the same realize that there are fundamental and beautiful differences between men and women and help my readers rejoice over and embrace these differences.

Many studies that have researched these differences have been conducted on children such as toddlers and infants. They have observed these differences by paying close attention to how they play with toys and which toys they play with. In an article that studied this they stated "Children as young as 9 months-old prefer to play with toys specific to their own gender, the study found, suggesting that boys and girls follow different developmental trajectories with respect to selection of gender-typed toys." (Link at bottom of page). The interesting thing about these findings is that the children do these things naturally without being told what to do. Parents try to teach their kids that there are no differences between boys and girls but in their youth they display signs that they are different. Their brains work differently and that is why they are drawn to these different kinds of toys and so on. 

 They saw that there were major differences in the mental processing between these young girls and boys. They said "Biological differences give boys an aptitude for mental rotation and more interest and ability in spatial processing, while girls are more interested in looking at faces and better at fine motor skills and manipulating objects." These differences are manifested in our daily lives as we look at the skills and behaviors of men and women. Men are often more spatially aware and that is why men are better at most sports. Girls are also better at fine motor skills. These can be manifested while women multi-task. They are almost always better at multi-tasking than men. 

 These differences could offend the world. But I feel that there is a great reason to rejoice because of them. These differences help men and women be capable of more within a marriage. These differences can lead to a healthy family dynamic when applied with the proper love and understanding. "The Family A Proclamation to the World" says the following regarding this topic "Gender is an essential characteristic of individual pre-mortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose." If each gender has a specific purpose and identity and there the purpose and identity is specific to the gender then why wouldn't the two genders be different. If men and women were identical in purpose and identity then there would only need to be one gender. These differences between men and women are ideal for raising a family. The father can be the provider because biologically the male body is built for work and the female body is built for raising children. The ability for a man to be focused on one thing at a time helps him in the work force and the ability for a woman to multi-task helps her be a more effective mother and nurturer. These differences are wonderful because they are meant to bless the lives of children.

 The world may try to say that there are no differences and destroy any scientific evidence proving them but the fact of the matter is that there are differences. Men and women are different but they are beautiful differences that are meant to be there to help men be good fathers and women be good mothers because there is no greater joy or cause on the face of the earth then being a parent and a husband or wife

Divorce, Remarriage & Aging

Many of us have heard stories where people are married and remarried over and over again. Maybe you have an uncle or aunt that has been married three or four times. Something that may scare us out of getting married or pursuing a relationship is that we may have a relative or know someone who has been through similar experiences.  Divorce is something much more common these days than it was in the past. Fathers and Finances

Are fathers even important? What good do they do to families and to the world? If mothers are better at nurturing and can also hold  stable job then why do we need men in the home. With almost forty percent of children being born into fatherless homes and fifty perfect of all marriages ending  in divorce less and less children are having exposure to fathers in the home.
